Musk says Twitter clash with Apple a ‘misunderstanding’

Twitter owner Elon Musk said he met with Apple chief Tim Cook on Wednesday and “resolved the misunderstanding” that prompted him to declare war on the iPhone maker’s App Store. “Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store,” Musk tweeted. “Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so.” Musk also tweeted a video clip of “Apple’s beautiful HQ” in Cupertino, California, noting that he had had a “good conversation” with Cook. Apple did not reply to AFP requests for comment. RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with terrorists in North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ARY News reported on Wednesday, quoting the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to military’s media wing, the security forces were patrolling in the Shewa area of North Waziristan District when they came under fire from terrorists. “Pakistan Army troops fought bravely and engaged the terrorist’s location effectively,” the ISPR said. However, it added, during the intense fire exchange, Havaldar Parosh, who was a resident of Kohat, fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom. Karachi: Street vendor ‘tortured, arrested’ for not giving ‘channa chaat’ to cops

KARACHI: A Karachi cop allegedly tortured and arrested a street vendor who refused to give free-of-cost ‘channa chaat’ to him, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The incident took place in the Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi. A street vendor dared to refuse to give free-of-cost channa chat to a policeman. The cop vented anger on the street vendor and sent him behind bars. The locals lodged a complaint to the Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Malir. Later, the vendor namely Riaz Bhutto was released from lock-up by the policemen. Bhutto told the media that he dared to demand money from the cops for serving the channa chaat to them which made them angry. He said that he was tortured and locked up in the police station by the cops. GHOTKI: Three persons including a woman lost their lives in a car-truck collision in Ghotki on Tuesday, ARY News reported. ISLAMABAD: Internet services faced disruptions across Pakistan on Tuesday after reports of cable cut in the International Submarine Cable AAE-1 in Egypt, ARY News reported. In a statement on Twitter, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) noted that a dual cut in the terrestrial segment of South East Asia, Middle East, Western Europe 5 — a submarine communications cable system that extends between Singapore and France — had been reported. Ecuador nearly doubled its number of prison guards on Monday as it tries to crack down on brutal violence between drug gangs that has left some 400 dead behind bars since 2021. A battle for control of the drug trade in the small country has played out in its prisons, mainly in the port city of Guayaquil, which has become a new nerve center in the global drug trade. Authorities announced the deployment of 1,461 new prison guards joining the current crop of about 1,500 officers, who at times have been severely outnumbered in a country with 32,000 inmates. “We are almost doubling the human resources needed for the professional, serious, and technical management of all of Ecuador’s detention centers,” said President Guillermo Lasso during the graduation ceremony of the new officers. China will launch the Shenzhou-15 spacecraft to its space station at 11:08 p.m. (1508 GMT) on Nov. 29, the China Manned Space Agency said on Monday, the final mission in the country’s plan to complete the crewed orbital outpost. Onboard will be three male astronauts: Fei Junlong, Deng Qingming and Zhang Lu, the agency said at a news conference. MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has clinched victory on 33 seats followed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) grabbing 18 seats during the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Local Government (LG) polls, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results. UAE issues travel advisory for passengers, sets new condition

A new travel advisory was issued for passengers to the United Arab Emirates as the UAE restricted the entry of travellers with a single name on their passports. According to the new advisory, the UAE immigration officials set a new condition for inbound passengers. Under the new condition, passengers with a single name on their passports will not get clearance at the UAE airports. It was declared mandatory for the passport holders to mention first and sir names including father or husband. The UAE authorities also directed the airlines to issue tickets to travellers with full names. A private airline, SereneAir, issued a public notice, stating, “The UAE government has revised the naming guidelines for allowing entry in the Emirates. As per the guideline update, any passport holder with a single name either Surname or Given Name would not be accepted by UAE Immigration and the passenger will be considered as an inadmissible passenger. The revised policy is in effect from 21 November

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sunday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Senator Azam Swati, in a case related to controversial tweets against state institutions, ARY News reported.  The PTI leader was taken into custody by a three-member FIA team from his farmhouse located in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad. A fresh case has been registered against the PTI lawmaker. FIA Cybercrime Wing has confirmed the arrest of the PTI leader.
