Jirga fines Sindh police cops for Saddam Lashari’s ‘fake encounter’

KARACHI: A local jirga has imposed heavy fines on Sindh police officials found of killing activist Saddam Lashari in a “fake encounter”, ARY News reported, citing sources. The illegal jirga, presided over by Lak Bijarani and Sardar Zulfikar Sarki, found the Jacobabad police of killing the activist in a fake police encounter and imposed Rs20.2 million fine on the police officials involved in the operation, sources said. Lashari was killed in an alleged police encounter in Thul town of Jacobabad district in Sindh. The jirga in its verdict directed the two Station House Officers (SHOs) along with four policemen to pay Rs20.2 million to Saddam Lashari’s family in fines. LAHORE: Punjab School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat on Sunday castigated the cheating culture during examination, alleging that Chairman Lahore Board and Controller Examination were involved in illicit practices along with cheating mafia, ARY News reported. Mohammad Rizwan reveals his plans for PSL 9 final against Islamabad United

KARACHI: Multan Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan on Sunday, downplayed the hype of the highly-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 final, stating that he would approach it as a normal game. Rizwan, who led Sultans to their third consecutive PSL final under his captaincy, expressed his excitement for the big match but at the same time refrained from taking the toll of the big-match pressure. “We are playing the fourth consecutive final. Everyone in the team is excited but for me, the game is just like a season opener,” stated Rizwan. ISLAMABAD: Four candidates including former finance minister Ishaq Dar are vying for the two vacant Senate seats from Islamabad. According to the preliminary list of candidates, Ishaq Dar is competing for a technocrat seat as joint candidate of the ruling coalition. Advocate Ansr Kayani represents the Sunni Ittehad Council as their candidate. Rana Mahmoodul Hasan from the Peoples Party is vying for the general seat in Islamabad, while Farzand Hussain Shah is a candidate representing the Sunni Ittehad Council. Pakistan to host South Africa, New Zealand for ODI tri-series in 2025

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Friday that it will host South Africa and New Zealand for an ODI tri-series ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. The development came after the newly-appointed PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi met the Chairman of Cricket South Africa (CSA), Mr Lawson Naidoo and the Chairman of New Zealand Cricket (NZC), Mr Roger Twose on the sidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting in Dubai. The agenda of the meeting included the ODI Tri-series between Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa, to be held in February 2025 in Pakistan, just before the ICC Champions Trophy. RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with his cabinet members, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi on Friday and laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay tribute to the martyrs, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
